Terms of Service

The rules for using WhatIsMyID.net's free network and security tools.

Effective Date: June 15, 2026 Last Updated: June 15, 2026
The short version. Use WhatIsMyID for personal or professional network diagnostics. Don't scrape it, don't try to break it, don't blame us if a result is wrong. There's no account, nothing to pay, and you can stop using the site at any time.

1 Agreement to these terms

By accessing or using whatismyid.net ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. A link to these Terms is available in the footer of every page; we recommend you review them before using any tool. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1.1 Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 if you are accessing the Service from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or another jurisdiction with a higher digital-consent age) to use the Service. By using it you confirm you meet this requirement. The Service is not directed at children below these ages, and we do not knowingly process their data.

2 The Service

WhatIsMyID provides browser-based diagnostic and informational tools — IP lookup, DNS leak detection, blacklist checks, MAC address resolution, port reachability, geolocation visualisation and similar utilities. Results are produced from public DNS records, public APIs, and your browser's own request metadata. They are intended as a technical reference, not professional advice.

3 Acceptable use

You may use the Service for any lawful purpose, including personal diagnostics, professional IT troubleshooting, security research, and educational demonstrations. You agree not to:

  • Use the tools to attack, probe, or harm any system or person you do not own or have explicit permission to test.
  • Run automated scrapers, bots, headless harvesters or "DDoS-style" load against the site or its API endpoints.
  • Bypass, circumvent or interfere with our rate limits, abuse-prevention logic, or security measures.
  • Use the Service to facilitate spam, phishing, malware distribution, harassment, doxxing, or any criminal activity.
  • Reverse-engineer protected portions of the Service for the purpose of building a competing commercial offering, or republish our results as your own paid product without consent.
  • Embed our tools in an iframe or wrapper on another site that disables our branding or attribution.

Reasonable individual or team use is fine. If you need higher volume access for a legitimate use case, contact us first.

3.1 User-supplied queries

Many of our tools accept input from you (an IP address, domain, email, MAC address, etc.). You are solely responsible for the inputs you provide. By submitting a value to a tool, you confirm that you have a legitimate basis to look it up — typically because the value belongs to you, to a system you administer, or to a target you have written permission to test. You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against any claim arising from your unauthorised lookup of someone else's data, including any claim under GDPR, KVKK, CCPA, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, or comparable laws.

4 Rate limits

To keep the Service fast and free for everyone, every tool enforces per-IP rate limits. Indicative ranges across endpoints:

Burst2 – 15 req / sec
Per minute10 – 500 req
Per hour100 – 3,000 req

Heavier endpoints (e.g. port scanning, file upload speed-test) sit at the lower end; lighter endpoints (DNS / IP lookups) sit at the higher end. The exact value per endpoint can change at any time without notice. Exceeding the limit returns HTTP 429 Too Many Requests. Persistent abuse may result in a temporary or permanent IP block.

5 No warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind — express or implied — including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

Network diagnostics are inherently approximate. Geolocation may be wrong by hundreds of kilometres. Blacklist verdicts depend on third-party databases that we do not control. DNS leak results reflect what your browser reveals at that moment, not an absolute privacy audit. Do not rely on these tools as the sole basis for any business, legal, or security decision.

6 Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, WhatIsMyID, its operators and contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary or punitive damages — including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses — arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months — which, since the Service is free, is zero.

7 Intellectual property

The site's design, source code, copy, branding, and tool logic are © 2026 WhatIsMyID and are protected by copyright. You may freely view the public-facing output of any tool and quote individual results with attribution. You may not clone the entire site, repackage our backend logic, or use our name or logo to imply endorsement of an unrelated product.

OpenStreetMap map data, Font Awesome icons, Bunny Fonts, Leaflet and other open-source dependencies are used under their respective licences and copyright belongs to their authors.

8 Third-party services

Some tools call public APIs and CDNs directly from your browser (IP geolocation, map tiles, fonts, Cloudflare DNS, etc.). When that happens, you also enter into a relationship with the relevant provider under their own terms. A current list and the privacy implications are documented in our Privacy Policy.

9 Advertising

To keep these tools free, we may display advertisements, including via Google AdSense. Ads are clearly distinguishable from the rest of the page. We do not endorse any advertised product, and we are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of advertisers. Clicking an ad takes you to a third-party site governed by that party's own terms.

10 Changes to the Service or these Terms

We may add, modify, or discontinue any tool at any time, with or without notice. We may also revise these Terms — the "Last Updated" date at the top will change to reflect the revision, and we encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of the Service after revisions become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If a revision materially expands obligations on you, we will make reasonable efforts to highlight it on the page itself.

11 Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time — that's the end of our relationship. We may suspend or block your access (typically by IP) if we reasonably believe you are violating these Terms, threatening the stability of the Service, or attempting to harm other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (disclaimers, limitation of liability, intellectual property, governing law) will continue to apply.

12 Copyright complaints (DMCA / EUCD notice & takedown)

If you believe content displayed by the Service infringes your copyright or other intellectual-property right, please send a written notice to legal@whatismyid.net containing:

  • Identification of the copyrighted work or right that you claim has been infringed.
  • The URL on this site where the allegedly infringing content appears.
  • Your contact information (name, email, postal address).
  • A statement, made in good faith, that the use is not authorised by the rights-holder, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the rights-holder or authorised to act on its behalf.
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

We will review valid notices within a reasonable time and remove or disable access to the disputed content where appropriate. We may also forward the notice to the user who supplied the content, and we will respond to valid counter-notices in accordance with applicable law. Repeat infringers will be permanently blocked.

13 Governing law & disputes

These Terms are interpreted in accordance with applicable consumer-protection and internet-service laws of the jurisdiction in which the Service operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Nothing in these Terms removes mandatory rights granted to you as a consumer by the law of your country of residence. We encourage you to contact us first to resolve any dispute informally; most issues can be settled by email within a few days.

14 Miscellaneous

  • Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable in any jurisdiction, that provision is severed and the remaining Terms continue in full force and effect.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that right.
  • Entire agreement. These Terms together with our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and WhatIsMyID with respect to the Service, and supersede any prior or contemporaneous understandings.
  • Force majeure. We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by circumstances reasonably beyond our control, including DDoS attacks, ISP outages, government action, or upstream provider failures.
  • Assignment. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms. We may assign or transfer them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially part of the Service, with notice posted on this page.
